One Subject is Not Enough

"If you cling to a rigid image of yourself, you will close yourself off from many opportunities and people. Challenge yourself by actively seeking experiences in fields you have yet to explore."

That is a quote I found in a book about life lessons and quotes that my mom picked up for me while she was away in St. Maarten. Since then, I've been reading into these stories of successful people and this was the one that caught my eye recently.

I learned that German composer Johann Sebastian Bach, who like many other composers in that century wrote classical music. But, the one thing that made him stand out from those other composers, was that he wasn't afraid to try writing different kinds of music aside from his main focus. He did this mainly because he needed extra income to support his children, but I can't help but think that he also did so because he had a passion for writing music. Therefore, if someone wanted him to write a melody for a funeral, he would done i…

Paris in her Darkest Hour

Good evening, as you read this, you'll be happy to learn that I am enjoying the nice summer breeze at the cottage as it is the first day of summer. I thought it would be a good time to get away for a bit you know?

Last night, I suddenly remembered a movie anniversary that would be today. I knew I wouldn't get a chance today to do much to honor it, so I spent last night briefly dressing up for the occasion.

On this day in Disney history The Hunchback of Notre Dame was released 21 years ago. A movie I recently came to love as much as those from my childhood, that sometimes doesn't get enough love from the Disney media pages. It feels like I've been infatuated with this classic story for a long time now; it's only been a year, but still.
Back on the 6th of January it was Topsy Turyy day, and now it's the anniversary. You have no idea how much I can't wait for my next con so I can become Frollo again. Perhaps that's why I sometimes dress up as him like for…

Caroleans are Marching On

Finally I got some decent sleep last night! I let my cat come into the room as I was getting into bed and cuddled her for a little before she decided to abandon me.

I fell asleep quickly and began to dream. It started where I was walking across the bridge that overlooked the river in the valley, and suddenly I heard voices and footsteps but they were no where to be found. That was when I realized that they were in my head.

They were marching sounds and soldiers chanting and suddenly I burst out shouting:

"The Caroleans are coming! The Caroleans are coming! I must go to them!"

People were starting to stare and get uncomfortable with it. One woman even tried to restrain me to come to my senses, but I pushed her away and started running so fast, until I spun around and next thing I knew, I was flying over the valley and fast like a speeder.

I heard shouts from behind but I continued to fly faster. Then, it became dark and I started to sing as I flew over uneven lights, on the g…

Memories Resting Calm in Me

Today felt like one of those days and we all have that at some point.

I think it all started with that nightmare I had being surrounded by caterpillars and hanging cankerworms. I was unable to go back to sleep afterwards.

My morning went fine but only halfway into my shift did I realize I had forgotten a few things before heading out the door.

When I was on my way home, I thought I'd cheer myself up by buying some lottery tickets and scratch cards, only to find that I didn't win anything..... which is mostly expected unfortunately.

After tackling the things I had forgotten to do in the morning, I thought about killing a bit of time by playing Andromeda for an hour or two. Everything was going fine, I was working my way towards getting an outpost on Kadara until the game decided to freeze while auto-saving.

Like any Skyrim fan, I would often prevent this by deleting old save points. But, as I rebooted Andromeda to try that, first the main menu did not load and was stuck with th…

Date Night on the Tower

So, to bring back the positive vibes to this place, I think it's best to start with a dream!

Nothing makes me happier than writing about a nice dream, and this one felt like a flashback at the beginning of the month.

I didn't want to write about this at first because I thought it would give away what I've been up to in Andromeda, before I write out my ramble about the game itself. But oh well, there's no point hiding it now, since it's already been given away on the fictional crushes page, and my social media accounts who I have romanced in the game that is in this dream.

This dream seemed to start when I was walking down the road of my neighborhood at night, and there was only one light coming from a house with a large window. It was like the one in my house's living room, but I knew I wasn't home yet. A large group of people were having dinner and some of them were not even human.

Someone waved at me from the window and I wanted to go, but inside my heart…

Sparkling Surprises

I feel like I caved in to another addictive beauty thing in life, only this time it's less expensive than the stuff at the nearest makeup store.

I was always flooded with sponsored pages of stuff you could put in your bathtub, watch it dissolve and inside would reveal a pretty ring, a diamond if you're lucky. I've already tried two of these and I love them. In fact, one of them even gave me the ring worn by Daenerys (Season 7 hurry up!) my last one was a surprise, and the ring is pretty, but for some reason I have a feeling it isn't a real diamond and the material feels more like aluminum instead of sterling silver. Maybe I got a dud, but it's still pretty.

Two is sufficient for now, but my gut is telling me to try the scents Morning Rose and Love Potion! But I think what I want more is an N7 hoodie and this custom necklace of a certain alien I saw on Etsy. Well, priority entertainment purchases.....sci-fi always wins! So next on leisure shopping list: definitely M…

Golden Fortress

At 2am last night there was a power outage and I woke up to pitch black feeling like I had become blind. I felt like it took me a moment to realize all that rain we have received in the past few weeks can sometimes turn off the power! Then the power came back and soon I drifted off into a dream.

I was walking down a dark passage that was suddenly illuminated by a golden pyramid, or was it a fort?

It also appeared to be holding up the rock ceiling above and I realized I was underground. If I have to be underground in a dream, I would prefer to be in the Underworld in Perim, or the Hollow on Sera. This time, it looks like I was in Perim because the guards patrolling outside; I remembered from the Chaotic series: they were donned in bright red armor and one of them had chipped horns.

I recognized him as Atrapol, and the funny thing is that in the TV series, he is actually the commander of Lord Van Bloot's army. He was pacing around in rage muttering "How many more does Chaor wan…
